The Living Room—adjoining Amici’s Kitchen — is one of metro Detroit’s best-loved neighborhood martini bars, offering a warm and intimate spot to gather with friends. Here you can enjoy a creative martini with your gourmet pizza.

The Patio—true garden oasis in the city - has been called the best “secret garden” in the metro area. Tucked in a cozy outdoor space behind the Living Room, martinis and pizza are served alfresco.

Partners Jennifer Stark and Maureen McNamara have owned the local Berkley pizzeria since 2005, purchasing the business from Jennifer’s brother George Stark, who started the award winning business.

They have kept the best of Amici’s, but brought their own touches to an already great place. The menu has expanded to offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free pizzas. Their focus has always been on quality. Amici’s continues to win awards for its pizza and martini bar.

Of the Kitchen, Living Room and Patio, it’s hard to say what makes Amici’s such a well-loved place, but Jennifer and Maureen’s passion for their family business and community is clear.

OUR HISTORY

Amici’s was founded in 1993 by George Stark and Sal Parko in a small shopping strip at the South end of Royal Oak, MI. Customers loved the fresh ingredients and unusual flavor combinations, which were different from other local pizzas. The focus was on freshness and premium ingredients. Amici’s quickly built a loyal following while winning several local food awards.
With Amici’s success growing, they soon moved to nearby Berkley, MI and added the Living Room—a casual martini bar where patrons could order one of their 50 martinis and an award-winning pizza in a comfortable neighborhood setting. Local artists exhibited their works in the Living Room making the atmosphere as creative as the menu. The Patio—tucked in the small outdoor dining space soon became the best spot in town for a summer evening.
In 2005 George passed the business to his sister, Jennifer Stark and her partner, Maureen McNamara. Keeping it in the family, they continue in the best tradition of Amici’s, but have brought their own “green” focus.
